"I joined LEO because it offers a unique opportunity for on-the-ground research--a chance to work directly with people and programs that are making a difference. I believe in the potential of empirical evidence to fuel programs that empower people in need.
I'm most excited by getting to know the service providers who are experts in the poverty field. Building relationships with our provider partners allows me to learn what solutions exist and where more work is needed."
As research faculty, Mary Kate fosters new partnerships with high-performing nonprofits and service providers around the country. She learns from these partners about the areas that are in the greatest need of evidence and research and teams up with them to carefully evaluate their programs and quantify their effectiveness. Mary Kate received her BA in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and earned her PhD in Economics from Purdue University.
