Grace Ortuzar

Graduate Assistant

Why LEO?

I joined LEO to answer policy-relevant questions. Our work at LEO informs the decisions of policymakers and providers about changing or expanding social programs. I enjoy learning from our partners at local governments and nonprofits. Their knowledge of the community helps us interpret the information contained in the data. The quantitative analysis is exciting as we combine that knowledge from our partners with advanced econometric methods.

Grace is a Ph.D. student in Economics at the University of Notre Dame. Before joining the Ph.D. program, Grace worked as a research associate at LEO managing several large-scale randomized controlled trials. Prior to LEO, Grace gained experience in the non-profit sector developing programs for microentrepreneurs in Chile and worked for two years as a Research Analyst at RTI International in Boston. Grace has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Indiana University.
