Paul Ryan, the 54th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Denis McDonough, former White House Chief of Staff for President Obama and current professor of the practice of public policy, sat down with Notre Dame's Scott Appleby for a conversation about current political events, bipartisan work in Congress, future challenges, and evidence-based data-driven policymaking.

"Notre Dame and LEO are really the leaders in this," Speaker Ryan said of LEO's role in the creation of the Foundations of Evidence-Based Policy Act, which was signed into law last year. "We can now move towards evidence-based policymaking to see what works and what doesn't. I really believe this will help bridge ideological partisan gaps to bring solutions."
