LEO recruits talented undergraduates to work as research assistants on all aspects of our projects. LEO research assistants gain valuable research experience, while working on projects that foster the university’s mission to help those most in need. We encourage students from all classes and from a variety of majors including Economics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Psychology, Sociology, and Political Science to apply.
Applicants must have advanced undergraduate coursework in statistics and experience programming in an advanced statistical software package (such as SAS, STATA, SPSS, or R) or in a more general programming language (such as C++ or Matlab). For economics and finance majors, we also strongly prefer that applicants have taken statistics for economics, econometrics, and at least one intermediate economics course (either micro or macro).
The ideal research assistant has an interest in economic research that examines anti-poverty initiatives. Although not required, experience working with a social service provider is helpful. Research positions are available during the summer as well as during the academic year.
Applications for Summer 2017 Research Assistant positions are no longer being accepted.
